vendor claims we could check in the product did not hold
A trial length, credit allowance or monthly price on a vendor's website is a starting point, not a promise: read it again inside the product, and in the checkout, before you commit.
These are the tools we could test ourselves, one account each; this is not a sample of the SaaS market.
20 October 2026 to 29 October 2026
29 October 2026 · with every new hands-on test round (new edition)
Every SaaS pricing page makes small promises: a 14-day trial, 1,000 free credits, a monthly price per seat. We open a free account for each tool we test, and before we do anything else we read those same numbers inside the product, and later in the checkout, stopping before any payment. This report puts every one of those comparisons side by side, together with what happened when we tried to take our data out again.
In hands-on tests of 42 business software tools (2026-10-20 to 2026-10-29), 6 of 32 checkable vendor claims did not match what the product showed, and in 20 of 31 exit tests part of the test data did not come back in the export, at import or at export.AIBuilder Marketplace, Report 06, edition 2026-10-29. Free to quote with attribution.
A claim only counts as held or not held when the product showed the same quantity the vendor named: the same trial length, the same credit allowance, the same plan and billing period. Where the product showed something else entirely (a discount window instead of a trial counter, a yearly price where the page quoted monthly), the row is listed as not comparable, never as held. Of the 6 claims that did not hold, 2 worse for the buyer, 3 better for the buyer, 1 neutral: a difference is not always bad news, and the table says which way each one went.
The left column quotes the vendor’s own page with the date we read it; the right column is what we saw in the product, with the date and plan. Each tool links to its review, where the screenshots are.

For 31 tools we entered a few made-up records, exported them with the tool’s own export, and compared the file with what we put in. In 20 cases part of it did not come back: a free-text note, a custom field, an attachment, an internal ID. Sometimes the loss happened at the door: the import had no field for it, so it never got in. The table says which. In 8 we also imported the export again to see whether it would update or duplicate.

This is not the SaaS market. These are the tools we review and could open ourselves on a free plan or trial, mostly software for small and mid-sized businesses.
One account, one moment. Each row is one sign-up on one date, from the Netherlands. A vendor can change a trial, an allowance or a price the next day; the dates are on every row for that reason.
A held claim is not an endorsement. It means the number on the website matched the number in the product on that day, nothing more.
Small test records. The exit tests use two or three made-up records per tool. A real account with years of data can export differently.
Each test follows the same written protocol. A person creates the account; the test itself runs in that person’s browser. Before any setup we save the vendor’s own claims about the trial, card requirement and allowances, quoted with the page and reading date. In the product we read the same quantities, take screenshots, and later open the checkout as far as the last screen before payment, without entering card details. For the exit test we enter a fixed set of made-up records (with commas, quotes, line breaks and accented letters on purpose), export them with the tool’s own export and compare the file field by field. The comparisons in this report are taken directly from those test records; nothing is retyped. Every row links to the published review with the screenshots.

Edition 2026-10-29. Every file below is the analysis input or output of this edition; the checksums let you confirm you have the same bytes we published. The manifest carries the population, period, definitions and counts. A rebuild of this page is not a new measurement: new rounds become new editions, and a changed edition carries a correction note.
