The 40%-off promotion that showed $5.00 and ran to 6 September 2026 has ended. A Team plan exists but carries no public price; it routes to an enquiry. The old /pricing URL still returns 404, and /upgrade shows a sign-up wall when signed out. Plans change — always verify the live price on their site.
What the pricing page doesn’t say
The honest framing is that this is a box of writing utilities -- paraphraser, grammar, plagiarism, AI detection -- rather than somewhere you actually write. General AI chat tools now overlap much of it. Note the sticker too: the advertised €8.33 a month assumes you pay for the year, and month-to-month is €19.95, about 2.4 times as much.

What buyers report about QuillBot
Recurring themes from the buyer-review sites listed at the foot of this page, read in August 2026. We have not run QuillBot ourselves, so this is other buyers' experience rather than ours. We summarise it here because the complaints are usually the part a vendor page leaves out.

- • There is no general money-back guarantee. Refunds are given mainly where law requires them — one reviewer with persistent Word add-in faults and 11 months left on an annual plan was refused any prorated refund.
- • Plagiarism checking and longer summarisation need the paid tier, which reviewers discover after starting.
- • Technical faults plus slow support is the combination that produces the negative reviews.
Monthly costs 2.4 times the annual rate
There are two real prices, and the gap between them is the decision. Read on quillbot.com/premium from the EU on 7 September 2026: Premium is €19.95 a month if you pay monthly, or €8.33 a month if you pay for the year. That is 2.4 times, and the page itself labels the annual route 58% off. So a monthly plan does exist -- it is simply priced to push you onto the annual one.
Team is an enquiry rather than a published price. That changes the shape of the decision rather than removing it. Over twelve months the annual route is €99.96 and the monthly route €239.40, so the right to leave costs about €139 a year. You are weighing that against a twelve-month commitment to a category moving underneath you: general AI chat tools now overlap most of what QuillBot does, and twelve months is exactly the period over which that overlap has been widening.
Judge the free tier on what it is, which is a demo rather than a smaller version of the product. Paraphrasing is capped at 125 words and two modes. A typical paragraph runs 100 to 150 words, so the free plan handles roughly one paragraph at a time -- a 1,000-word article is eight separate passes. That is enough to see whether the output reads well and nowhere near enough to do a day's work, which is precisely the design.
What you are buying is honest enough on its own terms: a box of writing utilities -- paraphraser, grammar checker, plagiarism check, AI detection -- rather than a place you actually write. If those four are jobs you do repeatedly, €100 for a year is a fair price for a tool that does them properly. What upgrading does not fix is the shape of the product: Premium removes the word caps, not the fact that this is a utility belt rather than a writing environment. If you are hoping to replace a writing workflow, no tier here is that.
How to actually use QuillBot
Run the free tier against the hardest thing you have, not the easiest. The cap is 125 words per paraphrase and two modes, so pick one dense paragraph -- jargon, a long sentence, something you would genuinely struggle to rewrite -- and see whether the output is better than your own second draft. That is the whole test. Do the same with the other three utilities while you are there: run the grammar checker over something you have already proofread, the plagiarism check over a piece you know the sources of, and the AI detector over text you wrote yourself.
Each one tells you more about the tool's false-positive rate than any review will. Then decide with the real price in front of you. Premium is €19.95 a month month-to-month or €8.33 a month billed annually -- about €139 more over a year to keep the right to cancel. Since the free tier does not expire, take the monthly plan for one working month first if you are unsure; waiting costs you nothing except the paraphrases you do a paragraph at a time.
