The best operations tools remove repetitive work quietly — the win is fewer dropped balls and less manual oversight, not more dashboards. So where does Shiftie actually fit?

Rota building, clock-ins, leave and shift swaps for shift-based businesses. Charged per active employee — roughly £2.75 a month, dropping to about £1.50 once you pass 30 staff, with entry plans from about £39. Not an HR or payroll platform, so those stay separate purchases.

Per active employee, per month (2026): roughly £2.75/employee, dropping to about £1.50 once you pass ~30 staff; entry plans from about £39/mo. You only pay for active users, and all plans include a 28-day free trial. Plans change — always verify the live price on their site.

It's focused, affordable rota software — which means it does scheduling, clock-ins, leave and swaps well, but it isn't a full HR or payroll platform, so a growing business will still bolt on payroll and HR tools around it. Pricing is genuinely low, but the per-active-employee model means a large seasonal team in a busy month costs more than the headline suggests. For shift-based scheduling specifically, it's a clean, cheap fit.
Recurring themes from GetApp, Capterra and Software Advice, read in August 2026. We have not run Shiftie ourselves, so this is other buyers' experience rather than ours. We summarise it here because the complaints are usually the part a vendor page leaves out.
Both columns come from the same place: each vendor’s own published pricing, read on the date shown in the sources at the foot of this page. We do not average them into a score.
Both names above are affiliate links: we may earn a commission if you sign up, at no extra cost to you. Neither changes what this table says: both columns come straight from the vendors’ own pricing pages.
The natural comparison is Deputy or 7shifts — comparable scheduling platforms — Shiftie tends to undercut on price; compare on payroll/HR features you actually need. Decide by which one fits the job above, not by the louder brand.
Everything we publish about Shiftie links back here — the review stays the honest hub:
The ex-banker filter — the same yardstick on every review (how we review): My ex-banker filter is simple: does Shiftie remove a real cost — time, errors, missed revenue — bigger than what it charges? If the job above is genuinely yours, it's worth a look. We never publish fake or “exclusive” prices, so always confirm the current plan on their site.
Usually it sits on top rather than replacing everything. Tools in this class tend to become the layer where work is tracked and handed off, while your existing systems stay the source of truth for their own data. Before you buy, map which tools it would replace outright and which it would merely sync with. If the answer is that it syncs with all of them, you are adding a layer rather than removing one.
Skip it if you need full HR, payroll and performance management in one system, or your team doesn't work in shifts at all. Buying a tool to fix a problem you don't have yet just adds cost and another login to manage.
