LumenCartLumenCart Review (2026)You Buy Credits, Not Images

Design & ContentResearched assessment · by Daniel HaketUpdated 2026-09-22

Two things decide whether this is cheap, and neither is the plan price.

Best for: small Shopify merchants who want studio and lifestyle product shots out of the photos they already have, without hiring a photographer or a studio, and who want them published straight to the product rather than downloaded and re-uploaded — and who can size their month in credits, because the ladder is metered rather than featured.

Pricing (2026)

✓ Pricing re-verified 22 Sep 2026

Free $0 with 25 lifetime image generations for a new store; then Starter $9, Growth $29, Pro $79 and Scale $199 a month, with annual billing taking 15% off. The Shopify listing publishes only the free plan and carries no dollar amount at all — it links out to this page with “See all pricing options”, so the App Store card is half the ladder.

Read the plans in credits rather than images, because that is what you actually buy: the monthly allowances are 75, 300, 1,000 and 2,500 credits, refreshed monthly, and an image costs 1 credit at standard quality or 2 at the highest. So Starter's 75 credits is 75 standard images a month, or 37 at the better setting. Unused monthly credits do not appear to roll over — the page says refreshed monthly and says nothing about carrying them forward.

One-off credit packs sit alongside the plans and do carry a stated life: 25 credits for $22, 100 for $82, 300 for $234 and 1,000 for $749, valid for 12 months. Two things in the buyer's favour that the page states outright: technical failures and image-safety refusals do not consume credits, and the restore-point retention rises with the tier — 30, 90, 180 and 365 days.

Prices are in USD and billed through Shopify, which shows the final amount before you approve it. Plans change — always verify the live price on their site.

The catch

The first is that you buy credits, not images: highest quality costs 2 credits against 1 for standard, so the better setting halves every allowance on the page — Starter's 75 credits is 37 images a month, not 75. The second is the one-off packs, which look like a convenient top-up and are the most expensive way to buy. On their own figures, 25 credits for $22 is about $0.88 a credit, while Starter's $9 for 75 is about $0.12 and Pro's $79 for 1,000 is about $0.08.

A pack is roughly seven to eleven times the subscription rate per credit, so if you keep reaching for packs you are on the wrong plan. Monthly credits are described as refreshed each month with nothing said about rolling over, so assume an unused allowance is gone; the packs, by contrast, state a 12-month life. The free tier is also smaller than it looks: 25 generations is a lifetime total for the store, not a monthly one, which is a single afternoon of trying looks across a catalogue.

And the app is new — launched 8 August 2026 with no reviews at all on its listing at the time of writing — so there is no track record yet on image quality or on support.

What LumenCart does

Shopify app from Fleeta that turns the product photos you already have into AI studio and lifestyle images, one at a time or in bulk, and publishes them to the product in one click. Metered in credits rather than images: free for 25 lifetime generations per store, then $9, $29, $79 and $199 a month for 75, 300, 1,000 and 2,500 credits refreshed monthly, annual billing 15% off, and an image costs 1 credit at standard quality or 2 at the highest. The per-credit rate stops improving at Pro. One-off packs run $22 for 25 credits to $749 for 1,000 and keep for 12 months. Launched August 2026, no reviews yet. Read 22 Sep 2026.

The discount for scaling runs out at Pro

The tiers here buy volume, not features: every paid plan is the same product with a bigger monthly credit allowance and a longer restore-point window. So the only question upgrading answers is what a credit costs you, and on their published figures that improves for three rungs and then stops. Starter is $9 for 75 credits, about $0.12 each; Growth $29 for 300, about $0.097; Pro $79 for 1,000, about $0.079.

Scale is $199 for 2,500 — about $0.0796 a credit, fractionally more than Pro rather than less. The arithmetic is ours, on the plan figures read 22 September 2026. That makes Pro the efficient end of this ladder. Moving up to Scale buys you 1,500 more credits a month and a year of restore points instead of 180 days, but it does not buy a better rate, and there is nothing above it published at all.

If 2,500 credits a month is not enough, the page does not tell you what happens next. Annual billing takes 15% off any tier, which is the one discount on the page that does keep working as you go up. The one-off packs run the other way entirely, at roughly $0.75 to $0.88 a credit, so they are a top-up for an unusual month and never a substitute for the right plan.

How to actually use LumenCart

Spend the free allowance before you choose a tier, and spend it deliberately. A new store gets 25 image generations and the pricing page calls them lifetime, not monthly — there is no second batch. That is enough to try three or four looks across a handful of products, which is exactly what you want to know before you pay: whether the generated scenes suit your catalogue at all. Note what the free plan does include, because it is the part that makes the trial safe: private previews before publishing, and product search with multi-image selection.

So you can look at what the model produced and decide, rather than discovering it on a live listing. The listing and the pricing page both describe publishing to the product as a one-click step, which is the same reason to preview first. Then two things to settle before the first invoice. Decide whether standard quality is good enough for your products, because the highest setting costs 2 credits against 1 and halves whatever allowance you buy.

And check the restore-point window on the tier you are considering — 30 days on Starter, 90 on Growth, 180 on Pro, 365 on Scale — since that is how long you can roll a published image back. Details read on lumencart.fleeta.co.uk/pricing and apps.shopify.com/lumencart, 22 and 21 September 2026.

Distilled from The vendor's pricing page at lumencart.fleeta.co.uk/pricing, read 22 September 2026, and the Shopify App Store listing at apps.shopify.com/lumencart, read 21 September 2026. The pricing page gave the whole ladder (Free $0 with 25 lifetime generations; Starter $9/75 credits, Growth $29/300, Pro $79/1,000, Scale $199/2,500, refreshed monthly), the 15% annual saving, the credit cost per image (1 standard, 2 highest), the restore-point retention of 30/90/180/365 days, the one-off packs (25 for $22, 100 for $82, 300 for $234, 1,000 for $749, valid 12 months) and the two statements quoted here: that technical failures and image-safety refusals do not consume credits, and that prices are in USD with Shopify showing the final amount before approval. The listing gave the free plan's three features, the Image editor category, the developer record (Fleeta Limited, 50 Princes Street, Ipswich, ENG, IP1 1RJ, GB), the launch date of 8 August 2026 and the rating of 0.0 from no reviews — and it publishes no dollar amount at all, linking out to the vendor page with “See all pricing options”. All per-credit and per-image arithmetic in this review is ours, on their figures. The comparison figures for AdCreative.ai and Retouch4me come from our own dossiers, price-verified 13 and 8 September 2026. No third-party ratings were used and no hands-on test was run.

The catch
The meter counts downloads, not campaigns — iterate seriously on ad variations and a 10-credit starter evaporates in an afternoon, which is exactly what iteration-heavy ad work does.
Best for
performance marketers and stores that test many ad variations across sizes and platforms and want on-brand creative volume without a designer bottleneck

The natural comparison is AdCreative.ai, Retouch4me — All three put AI between you and a product image, and they sit at three different points of the job. Retouch4me, from our own dossier verified 8 September 2026, retouches photographs you already shot — Photoshop-compatible plugins on perpetual licences at $145 to $179 each, or cloud retouching in packs at $24 for 100 credits. AdCreative.ai, verified 13 September 2026, makes ad creative and banners rather than catalogue photography, metered by download from roughly $29–39 a month for 10 credits up to $1,399 for 200. LumenCart generates the scene itself — studio and lifestyle images built from the photo you have — and is the only one of the three that publishes the result to the Shopify product in one click. So the comparison is mostly about where your bottleneck is. If you have good photographs and want them cleaner, Retouch4me is the tool and its perpetual licences mean you stop paying. If you need creative for paid campaigns, AdCreative.ai is built for that and LumenCart is not. LumenCart only wins when the photograph you want does not exist and the destination is a product listing. On evidence the other two are ahead, and by a distance: LumenCart launched in August 2026 and has no reviews at all. That is not a reason to rule it out at $9 a month, but it is the reason to spend the 25 free generations before you commit to a plan..

Frequently asked questions

What should I weigh before buying Design & Content software?

Up to a point, and that point is usually set by your plan. Check whether brand kits, custom fonts, colour locking and template controls sit on the tier you would actually buy, since these are common upsells. Test it with your own assets during the trial rather than the demo content, which is always chosen to flatter the output.
