Formation itself is $0 plus the state's fee — that applies to LLC, S corp and C corp filings alike, and the state fee is separate, varies by state and is not shown until you pick one. Everything else is priced as its own line rather than bundled into plan tiers. The recurring items are registered agent at $199/year, Worry-Free Compliance Filing at $199/year, and Advanced Compliance Protection at $299/year.
One-time filings: operating agreement $99, EIN $99, business document templates $99, rush filing $79 and DBA registration $95 plus state fees. Then business licence report $149, amendment $100, certificate of good standing $100, annual report filing $100 per report, and New York publication $200 for the state that requires it. There is a second catalogue alongside the legal one: business website $129/year, eCommerce website $279/year, business email address $25/year, domain $25/year, domain privacy $10/year, logo kit $60, business banking $5/month and Money Pro with online payments $30/month. What the pricing page doesn’t say
A registered agent is a legal requirement in every state, and theirs is $199/year — so the realistic first-year cost of 'the $0 LLC' is the state fee plus $199, before compliance filing at another $199/year. Price the second year, not the first. The second thing to hold in view is that the state fee is the largest and most variable number in the whole exercise, and ZenBusiness cannot change it.
It is set by your state, ranges widely, and their own page sends you to a lookup rather than quoting it. Anyone comparing formation services on the advertised price alone is comparing the small half of the bill.

What buyers report about ZenBusiness
Recurring themes from the buyer-review sites listed at the foot of this page, read in August 2026. We have not run ZenBusiness ourselves, so this is other buyers' experience rather than ours. We summarise it here because the complaints are usually the part a vendor page leaves out.
- • Formation itself is cheap, fast and reviewers say the filings go through correctly — for a straightforward LLC it does the job.
- • The dashboard keeps compliance dates visible, which is the part solo founders forget.

When the paid plan is worth it
The upgrade question here is not a plan tier, it is which recurring line you keep. Worry-Free Compliance at $199/year buys the annual report and amendment filings being done for you. The same annual report filed individually is $100 per report, and an amendment is $100. So the maths only works if you expect more than one filing a year, or you value not tracking the deadline. Advanced Compliance Protection at $299/year adds unlimited amendment filings and a money-back guarantee on penalties for missed compliance events — that guarantee is the real difference between the two, so read what it covers before paying the extra $100.
Registered agent at $199/year is the one line most businesses genuinely cannot skip, unless you are willing to use your own address publicly and be available during business hours to receive legal documents.
How to actually use ZenBusiness
Look up your state's filing fee and processing time first — their own page has the lookup, and that number will usually be larger than anything ZenBusiness charges you. Decide the registered agent question before you file, because it is a required field on the filing itself: your own address is free but becomes public record and ties you to business hours, theirs is $199/year. Then file at $0 and add nothing else on day one.
The EIN at $99 is the add-on worth pausing on: it is required to open a business bank account or hire, and the IRS issues it directly at no charge, so you are paying to not deal with the IRS yourself. Standard filing is included; rush at $79 only matters if you have a launch date. If you are forming in New York, budget the $200 publication line separately — that state requires a newspaper announcement and it catches people out.
