What Shopify apps actually cost at your volume

Almost none of these apps charge by the seat. They charge by the unit of work — and the unit is usually the thing the app exists to produce more of. Type your own numbers below and the ladder does the rest.

We keep dossiers on 60 Shopify apps and read every price ourselves. Counting them up: 35 of the 60 meter on a countable unit rather than a flat monthly fee, and only 22 of the 60 publish what an extra unit costs. That second number is the one that catches people. StoreFAQ charges $0.0159 for every FAQ page view past 500 — on an app whose entire job is to make those pages rank and get read. AskNest sells 500 AI replies for $4.99 and never says, anywhere on the listing, what happens to reply 501.

So this is not a pricing table. It is the ladder each vendor actually published, with your own volume run through it. Where a vendor does not publish an overage rate, the calculator says so and stops — it does not guess, because a derived number is how you end up quoting $66.67 for a plan that costs $70.

How many customer questions do you get in a month?

Count the ones a bot could answer: where is my order, do you ship here, what size am I.

a month

None of these four count the same thing. AskNest bills a reply, Cloze and NeuroAds bill a conversation — and neither listing says whether that is a session, a thread or a single message. HelpCenter is the only one with an unambiguous unit: a ticket, meaning a question that reached a human.

How many orders do you take in a month?

Your own order count, not sessions or visitors.

a month

Essential Loyalty is the odd one out: it counts only loyalty-influenced orders — repeat sales and referrals — not every order, so its real number is a fraction of the one you type here.

How many products are in your catalogue?

Variants count separately on some of these, which is worth checking before you commit.

a month

Zendrop counts only products you link from its own catalogue, not your whole store, so type your intended dropship count for that row.

How many product images do you need processed in a month?

Alt text, generated photos, compression — whatever you would run in bulk.

a month

AltText.ai bills advanced formats (AVIF, HEIC, SVG, TIFF) at two credits and each extra translation language at one more per image, so the real count can be double what you type.

How many people read your FAQ pages in a month?

Page views on the FAQ, not questions asked.

a month

This is the meter worth staring at: the app exists to make these pages rank and get read, and every read is a billable unit.

How many minutes do you spend on customer calls in a month?

Inbound support calls plus any outbound recovery calls.

a month

The monthly price is a minutes bucket, not a fee. Past the bucket you pay per minute, so cost tracks conversation length rather than seats.

How many push notifications would you send in a month?

Abandoned-cart nudges plus campaigns.

a month

PushOwl prices each channel separately and adds them up, so the figure below is the web-push side only.

How many people are on your email list?

Contacts stored, not emails sent.

a month

Above 30,000 contacts Drip's ‘unlimited sends’ becomes exactly twelve sends per contact per month — the word stays, the ceiling appears.

How many people would answer support?

Agent seats, not customers.

a month

eDesk has a second meter on top of the seat: $0.99 for every query its AI resolves. At a thousand resolutions a month that is $990 above the seats.

How many pieces of AI copy would you generate in a month?

Product descriptions, sections, blog posts — anything the app calls a credit.

a month

Neither of these listings states what one credit buys. On ChatGPT AI Product Description the slogan ‘$1 per 100 descriptions’ is a ceiling on the cheapest plan, not a rate: it works out at 95, 45 and 23 cents per hundred as you climb.

How much revenue would your bundles make in a month?

Sales through bundles, volume discounts and add-ons — in dollars.

a month

There is no overage here. Fast Bundle's own FAQ says exceeding your plan's bundle revenue means upgrading to keep campaigns running.

How many physical store locations do you have?

Branches, pickup points, stockists.

a month

Above the free plan the ladder is a location counter, not a feature list: Advanced and Pro name exactly the same eight features as Basic.

How many shoppable videos would you publish?

Clips on the storefront, not views.

a month

The vendor's own site sells a different product on a different meter — AI-generated video at roughly $1 to $4 a render — not this widget ladder.

Apps no volume can price

For these, entering a number would be theatre. The bill is a share of revenue, a fee per event, or a figure the vendor does not publish at all — so the honest output is the formula rather than a total.

No subscription at all. 20% of recovered chargeback revenue capped at $250 per win, alerts $17–$27.50 each, fraud prevention $0.05 per order and ‘order not received’ prevention another $0.05. The bill is a function of how many disputes you have.

19.99% of the delivery-protection revenue you upsell, minimum $20 a month. Their own page adds tiers at 24.99% and 44.99%, and a further 30% if they take on refund liability — 74.99% in total.

Costs the merchant nothing: the fee lands on your customer at checkout, roughly $2–$5 or a reported 3–5% of order value. Seel sets it with its own algorithm and publishes no rate card.

A $49 monthly minimum on Self-Serve plus 10% of the ad spend it manages, with all Adwisely fees capped at $3,250 a month. Your bill moves with your ad budget.

The free plan covers the first $1,000 of recovered email revenue, so it ends when the tool starts working. After that it is $450 or $500 a month flat.

One-off rather than monthly, and the App Store listing prints no number at all. Doing it yourself starts at $29 by store size; having their team do it starts at $300. Their homepage puts a typical store at $49–$299.

No subscription: you pay per item, production plus shipping. Our monthly captures put blanks between roughly $2.99 and $23, so the number that matters is your finished garment against your retail price.

Priceable only once you know your Shopify plan. The listed $9.99 holds on Shopify Basic; the listing adds +$5 on Grow, +$30 on Advanced and +$60 on Plus, so Basic is $9.99, $14.99, $39.99 or $69.99. The same surcharge applies to their blog builder.

SSuperfiliateread 2026-08-25

Publishes no price anywhere. Their pricing page returns 404 and the homepage carries no amount — the only call to action is Contact Us.

How this was built

Every ladder here was read on the vendor's own listing or pricing page on the date shown beside it, and typed in by hand rather than scraped — a pattern-match over our own price notes found 13 of the 35 metered apps, so the machine was not good enough. Nothing is derived: where a vendor publishes a monthly figure we use it, and where the ladder stops we say the ladder stops. Prices change, sometimes fast — one app on our list raised all three tiers between the 24th and the 25th of August with the same feature lists — so treat every figure here as dated evidence and confirm the current one before you commit.
