BybitBybit Review (2026)

Financial OperationsResearched assessment · by Daniel HaketUpdated 2026-08-27

Derivatives are the draw and the danger: leverage cuts both ways, and funding rates on perpetuals are a real recurring cost the fee table doesn't show. Throughout this review we weigh it against Binance.

Best for: active traders who want deep liquidity, low derivatives fees and a broad product range (spot, perps, options) with volume-tiered discounts.

Pricing (2026)

✓ Pricing re-verified 21 Aug 2026

No subscription — per-trade fees, re-verified 2026-08-17 against Bybit's own fee schedule. At VIP 0 (non-VIP): spot 0.1000% maker and 0.1000% taker; perpetuals and futures 0.0200% maker and 0.0550% taker; options 0.0200% maker and 0.0300% taker. The VIP ladder cuts those toward zero — at Supreme VIP spot is 0.0300% maker and 0.0450% taker, derivatives 0.0000% maker and 0.0300% taker, options 0.0050% and 0.0150%.

Note that the top derivatives maker rate is zero rather than a rebate: we found no negative maker fee in the published table. Your VIP level is set by either your asset balance or your trading volume over the past 30 days, whichever qualifies you higher, so one of the two is enough. Special trading zones have their own tables. Plans change — always verify the live price on their site.

Correction after re-checking: Bybit publishes no negative maker fee. The standard table runs from VIP 0 — 0.1000% maker and taker on spot, 0.0200% maker and 0.0550% taker on Perpetual & Futures — down to Supreme VIP, whose Perpetual & Futures maker rate is 0.0000% and whose Options maker rate is 0.0050%. That is zero, not a rebate. The Pro Users & Market Makers tab ends at the same floor: Pro 6 pays 0.0000% maker on derivatives across all five symbol groups. That tab does use rebate wording — it describes Group 1 as carrying "adjusted Maker rebates" and Groups 4-5 as carrying "increased Maker rebates" — but it attaches no rate below 0.0000% to any group. The only rebate percentage Bybit publishes sits outside both tables, in the Market Maker Incentive Program, which the fee page describes as "up to 0.01% maker fee rebate" and which requires a separate application. A rebate figure is therefore something you apply for, not a number any fee tier hands you. Note also that Bybit states actual rates may vary by region and directs users to their own My Fee Rate page. The honest knock

Regulation-wise, check what Bybit may offer in YOUR jurisdiction before funding an account — availability and product range differ per country, and that's the part most fee comparisons skip.

What Bybit does

Crypto exchange covering spot, perpetuals and options. No subscription — spot is 0.1% maker and taker for non-VIP, derivatives around 0.02% and 0.055%, with volume tiers cutting lower.

What buyers report about Bybit

Recurring themes from the buyer-review sites listed at the foot of this page, read in August 2026. We have not run Bybit ourselves, so this is other buyers' experience rather than ours. We summarise it here because the complaints are usually the part a vendor page leaves out.

What they praise
  • The app is rated 4.7 on the App Store and 4.5 on Google Play — speed and features are what active traders name.
  • After the February 2025 hack of $1.5 billion, Bybit covered every customer loss from its own liquidity and has published monthly proof-of-reserves since.
What they complain about
  • 2.6 out of 5 across 7,589 Trustpilot reviews (read 25 August 2026). The theme is access to your own money.
  • Account freezes with funds locked for weeks or months after full KYC, answered with template replies.
  • Deposits stuck under review for 20+ days, and approved withdrawals not arriving at the bank.
  • Long KYC times and regional restrictions. Withdrawal fees run higher than Binance.

Where the ratings disagree. 4.7 in the app stores against 3.2 on Trustpilot. People rate the trading interface highly and the withdrawal experience poorly — those are two different products to the same customer.

When the paid plan is worth it

There is no subscription to upgrade, so the only ladder here is the VIP one, and it is worth knowing how you climb it. Meeting one of the two is enough. Re-read on Bybit's own fee schedule on 21 August 2026, a non-VIP account pays 0.1000% maker and taker on spot, 0.0200% maker and 0.0550% taker on perpetuals and futures, and 0.0200% and 0.0300% on options. At Supreme VIP those fall to 0.0300% and 0.0450% on spot and 0.0000% maker and 0.0300% taker on derivatives.

Note where the top ends: the published maker rate stops at zero rather than paying a rebate. Levels refresh daily and subaccounts inherit the main account's structure. What climbing does not touch is most of what the cost actually is. Withdrawal fees sit outside the table, funding rates on perpetuals are a recurring charge no tier reduces, and the complaint dominating public reviews is access to your own money rather than the price of a trade.

How to actually use Bybit

Bybit's own onboarding runs five steps: register with an email or phone number, complete Identity Verification, deposit crypto, buy crypto, then explore its beginner-recommended products. Step two is not optional. Bybit's KYC table marks crypto deposit, spot trading, derivatives and Earn as unavailable without verification, so an unverified account can only withdraw — capped at 20K USDT daily and 100K USDT monthly. Standard verification (identity assessment plus proof of identity) is what makes a first trade possible and raises the daily withdrawal ceiling to 1M USDT.

Bybit puts the check at about 15 minutes but says it can take up to 48 hours.

Nearly all the friction sits in that one step.

What it costs

The catch
The honest caveats are crypto-wide, not Bitvavo-specific: fees are only part of the cost (spread matters on small orders), and no exchange removes market risk — the platform being cheap and MiCA-regulated doesn't make the assets safe.
Best for
EU-based traders and builders who want a MiCA-regulated, euro-native exchange with low tiered fees, deep EUR pairs and a solid API for automation

Both names above are affiliate links: we may earn a commission if you sign up, at no extra cost to you. Neither changes what this table says: both columns come straight from the vendors’ own pricing pages.

The natural comparison is Bitvavo or Kraken — Bitvavo is the euro on/off-ramp specialist, Kraken the regulated all-rounder — Bybit wins on derivatives depth. Weigh it against Binance on the job you actually need done.

Frequently asked questions

What are Bybit's trading fees?

At the non-VIP level, read on their own fee schedule on 17 August 2026: spot is 0.1000% for both maker and taker; perpetuals and futures are 0.0200% maker and 0.0550% taker; options are 0.0200% maker and 0.0300% taker. Spot is where the cost is — it is roughly five times the derivatives maker rate.

How do I get lower fees, and how low do they go?

The VIP level is determined by your asset balance or your 30-day trading volume, whichever puts you higher, so you only need to meet one of the two. At the top published tier, Supreme VIP, spot falls to 0.0300% maker and 0.0450% taker and the derivatives maker rate reaches 0.0000%. Worth being precise about that last one: the published table stops at zero, so a maker at the top tier trades free rather than being paid a rebate.

Are the fees the whole cost?

No, and this is where the complaints live rather than on the fee card. Withdrawal fees are separate and reviewers report them running higher than Binance's, and the dominant theme in public reviews is not the price of a trade but access to your own money — account freezes and deposits stuck under review. Price the withdrawal, not just the trade.

What should I weigh before buying Financial Operations software?

The bar here is higher than features. Check who actually holds the money and under what licence, whether client funds are segregated, what audit trail and permission controls you get, and how support behaves when something goes wrong mid-transaction. Anything touching payments should be able to answer those in writing; if it cannot, that is your answer.
