 "skip_if": "your sites are not on WordPress, you need a lawyer-reviewed policy rather than a generated template, or you were counting on automatic policy updates and data-request automation, which the pricing page still lists as coming soon",
 "honest_knock": "The paid platform sells breadth, not a different product: the free WPLP Cookie Consent plugin already includes the cookie banner, the scanner, script blocking, a consent log and Google Consent Mode v2 according to its own listing, so a single site may never need to pay. Three headline features on the pricing page, automatic policy updates, automated data-request processing and the compliance blueprint, are marked coming soon. The legal pages come from a questionnaire and templates, not from a lawyer. It is WordPress only. And the vendor's own numbers do not line up: the pricing page says 20,000+ sites, the cookie plugin's listing 30,000+, and the Legal Pages listing on wordpress.org still has unfilled template placeholders around its install count and around whether premium is a one-time or an annual licence, while the pricing page sells yearly plans. We have not run WPLP ourselves.",

The base is two free WordPress plugins, WPLP Legal Pages and WPLP Cookie Consent. The cookie plugin's own listing says the free version already includes the cookie banner, the cookie scanner, automatic blocking of tracking scripts until consent, category consent, a preference centre, a consent log stored in your own WordPress database and Google Consent Mode v2. On top of that sits the paid WPLP Compliance Platform, billed yearly in US dollars and priced only by the number of sites: $48 a year for 3 sites, $72 for 10, $168 for 25, $312 for 50 and $588 for 100. Every paid plan carries the same features; the page states there is no per-domain pricing and the FAQ says you only pay more to use the features on more sites. What paying adds, per the plugin listing and the pricing page: geo-targeted banners and automatic detection of the visitor's law, IAB TCF v2.3, A/B testing of banners, branding removal, a multisite dashboard that manages several separate WordPress installs from one login, and priority support. The pricing page lists no caps on pageviews, cookie scans or pages per scan. The first payment gets 15% off automatically, there is a 30-day money-back guarantee, upgrades are prorated, there is no long-term contract, and the FAQ says your rate will not rise for as long as you keep the subscription. Three features on the pricing page are marked coming soon rather than available: automated processing of data-subject requests, a compliance blueprint that applies one setup to every site, and policies that update themselves when a law changes.",

  "name": "iubenda",
  "why": "iubenda is in our dossiers too, read on 9 October 2026: it is priced per site per month with a pageview quota, from €4.99 a site a month billed yearly on Essentials for up to 25K pageviews and one language, and €0.05 per 1,000 extra pageviews above the quota. WPLP, read on 12 October 2026, is $48 a year for 3 WordPress sites with no pageview or scan caps on the pricing page, falling to $5.88 a site a year at 100 sites. On cost for busy WordPress sites WPLP is far lower, and the currencies are not converted here. iubenda's advantage is reach: it works as a hosted service on any platform, while WPLP lives inside WordPress and has its automatic policy updates still marked coming soon."
